The Primary Care Education Consortium was developed approximately fifteen years
ago to provide educational programs for primary care clinicians. Recognizing the
difficulty in reaching such a broad audience, PCEC created an initial medical
education project on colon cancer awareness as a pilot. Based on the success of
this project and realization of the need for education specifically targeting
primary care , PCEC developed a collaboration with other primary care organizations
to function as a full service medical education company.
Members of the consortium include:
-
The Illinois Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP)
-
Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of Oregon (OPSO)
-
The Journal of Family Practice (JFP)
-
The North Carolina Association of Pharmacists
-
Nurse Practitioner Associates for Continuing Education (NPACE)
-
Primary Care Metabolic Group (PCMG)
-
Primary Care Respiratory Group (PCRG)
Collaborating Associations include:
PCEC continues to develop and execute high quality educational programs focused
on primary care clinicians.
The majority of PCEC projects are publications in peer reviewed journals and live
CME symposia and workshops. Examples include:
-
Annual Special Hot Topic Issues of the Journal of Family Practice
-
Regional CME meetings at AAFP State Chapter meetings
-
Annual Chief Resident Summit on Diabetes
-
Symposia at National and Regional meetings including AAFP FMX, Metabolic and
